Enriching children by strengthening their core values, knowledge and skills

Montessori Philosophy

Montessori is a method of education that was initiated by Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician, over 100 years ago. Since then it has been practiced widely across the world. There are about 20,000 Montessori schools around the world including 5,000 in the US. The underlying principle of a Montessori curriculum is based on self-directed activity, hands on learning and collaborative play. In Montessori classrooms, children are given freedom with responsibility. Deep Roots Montessori will not only serve as a day care but in parallel provide top-notch Montessori curriculum to the Preschoolers and Toddlers in Anna/ Melissa, Tx. Some key features that define Montessori education are:

  • Self-discipline acquired through absorption of meaningful work.
  • Mixed age group classrooms encouraging younger children to emulate their older peers. The older children develop leadership skills, self-confidence and serve as role models.
  • Non-competitive atmosphere and every child has individual lesson plans
  • Teacher acts as a guide. Child determines direction of learning by exhibiting self interest
  • Intellectual Environment: Maria Montessori has designed the curriculum to be wholesome rather than just providing academic knowledge. The lessons are designed by encouraging the child to
    • observe
    • process this information
    • make inferences and then
    • logically arrive at the decision
  • Practical life skills that help the child achieve independence in their day to day activities
  • Care for self and surrounding environment
