Curriculum

Individual lesson plans will be drafted for each child in the following core areas:

Practical Life:

Practical Life teaches the child to take care of self and their environment. Montessori called this the foundation to the child’s education.

  • Solid and Liquid pouring exercises – helps improve hand eye coordination
  • Dressing frames – helps the child be independent to button/ zip/ tie laces etc.
  • Squeezing (sponging & dropper) – improves fine motor skills
  • Grace & courtesy

Sensorial:

The Sensorial exercises in the Montessori classroom help the child to educate the senses, also called as sensory education. Through a variety of materials the children work logically to differentiate height, width, length, color, texture, etc. The child is trained to observe, make comparisons, form judgements and make final conclusions when working the sensorial exercises. The child’s vocabulary is enhanced and a deeper understanding of geometry is found. Sample exercises covered in this module -

  • Knobbed and knobless cylinders
  • Color tablets
  • Touch boards
  • Pink tower
  • Brown stairs
  • Constructive triangles, Geometrical solids

Language:

Language opens up the doorway to communication. The concepts of reading and writing are taught using a variety of materials in a systematic format. Every classroom will have its own library. Few concepts included in this module –

  • Sound booklets
  • Sandpaper letters
  • Blend books
  • Metal insets
  • Object boxes
  • Moveable alphabets
  • Short vowel and long vowel phonetic puzzles
  • Sentence building

Math:

The math module introduces the child to utilize concrete materials to count. Sample exercises included in this module –

  • Numerical rods
  • Sandpaper numbers
  • Spindle boxes
  • Addition/ Subtraction
  • Bead bars
  • Hundred board
  • Decimal System beads

Cultural:

Cultural module provides the lessons and skills needed to make discoveries about our world. This is an integrated study that includes includes Geography, Botany and Zoology. Sample lessons include

  • Puzzle map of the world
  • Ocean and land forms
  • Five vertebrate classifications (Fish, Amphibian, Reptile, Bird, Mammal)
  • Parts of plants, trees

Extra-Curricular:

Deep Roots will include extra-curricular activities such as Art, Spanish, Yoga, Sports, Music and so on, which makes Deep Roots Montessori the ideal Private Kindergarten School in Anna and Melissa.

Summer Programs:

Summer program flyers will be published by March 31 st of the calendar year.
